Mechanical Contractor
Construction Project Management Co-op
As a Project Management Co-op at McKenney's, I had the opportunity to contribute to the construction of mechanical systems for projects in the healthcare and higher education fields. My work encompassed a variety of managerial responsibilities, including design, finance, procurement, coordination, and on-site execution. I reviewed and revised shop drawings to more efficiently route duct and piping to facilitate ease of installation, priced pre-construction and change order documents, performed equipment takeoffs to coordinate large-scale orders, inspected the quality of installed equipment, reviewed submittals, organized the schedule, and coordinated schedules and design with foremen, superintendents, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
This project involved the construction of mechanical systems for the Intuitive PCCD (Peachtree Corners Campus Development) Surgical Center, a major expansion for a global leader in robotic-assisted surgery. As part of this large-scale build, I contributed to the installation of high-tech HVAC and plumbing systems, including radiation heating systems, ensuring they met the stringent specifications required for a state-of-the-art medical facility.
A significant addition to the Georgia Tech campus, the Tech Square Phase 3 Tower project involved the construction of a dual-tower academic and commercial hub. The tower will serve as the new home for the Scheller College of Business and the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering. I ensured our work aligned with the complex architectural and functional requirements of this 416,500 square-foot modern, multi-use university building.
This project is focused on a significant upgrade to the University of Georgia's main campus energy infrastructure. It included a new chiller, cooling tower, transformers, variable frequency drives, and large condenser and chilled water piping. McKenney's is the Prime Contractor for this project, and I gained experience managing electrical, steel, roofing, concrete, and other subcontractors typically not included in our scope.
The Westminster Blake Innovation Center is a new academic building at The Westminster Schools dedicated to fostering innovation and collaboration. The project involved a comprehensive build-out of a new hub with spaces for computer science, engineering, and robotics.
